Carbon Reduction Plan

Supplier name: FabricShift Limited

Publication date: 01/06/2025

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

FabricShift Limited has already achieved Net Zero emissions and seeks to continue operating as a Net Zero organisation.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2023/24

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

FabricShift has selected the financial year 2023/24 as its baseline year, as this represents the first period in which emissions were comprehensively assessed. As a fully virtual organisation with no leased office premises or company-owned vehicles, our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are zero. The baseline emissions consist entirely of Scope 3 categories, including homeworking, employee commuting, business travel, and purchased goods and services. This provides an accurate reflection of our operational emissions, and the baseline will be reviewed annually as data granularity improves.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress of maintaining Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that our carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 8.30 tCO₂e by 2028/29, representing a 25% reduction against our 2023/24 baseline of 11.07 tCO₂e. Our initial progress is evidenced by a 2.7% reduction in emissions from 2023/24 to 2024/25.

This reduction will be achieved through a combination of improved sustainable procurement practices, the optimisation of business travel, and a continued commitment to remote-first operations. We will also strengthen supplier engagement to encourage low-carbon practices across our value chain.

In addition to our total emissions reduction, we have set the following operational targets:

  • Reduce emissions from business travel by 40% by switching to virtual delivery wherever possible and adopting rail over air travel where feasible.
  • Maintain or reduce emissions from homeworking per FTE through staff education and promoting low-energy working habits (e.g. device efficiency, heating management).
  • Engage 100% of our top 10 suppliers by spend in sustainability discussions by 2026, aiming to influence upstream Scope 3 emissions.
  • Offset any unavoidable residual emissions from 2028/29 onwards, using verified carbon removal or reduction projects aligned to recognised standards.

Progress will be reviewed annually, and our targets will be updated as data quality improves and reduction opportunities evolve.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2023/24 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 0.3 tCO2e, a 2.7%ge reduction against the 2023/24 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract:

  • Virtual-first delivery model: FabricShift operates as a fully virtual organisation and prioritises digital delivery of services. Face-to-face engagement is only used when necessary, and public transport is used exclusively where travel is required.

  • Low-energy working practices: All staff devices are configured with power-saving settings as part of our standard laptop policy, minimising energy consumption during homeworking.

  • Sustainable procurement policy: We actively assess and select suppliers based on sustainability credentials, giving preference to low-carbon firms. Our supplier onboarding process includes a sustainability checklist, and suppliers that fail to meet our minimum environmental criteria cannot be approved.

  • Environmental certifications: We are ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certified, reflecting our commitment to continual improvement in environmental and quality management practices.

  • Offsetting through reforestation: To compensate for residual emissions, we have planted over 650 trees to date as part of our carbon offsetting efforts.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Expanding our tree planting programme and exploring verified carbon offsetting schemes aligned to global standards.

  • Formalising a supplier engagement programme to encourage emissions tracking and reduction across our supply chain.

  • Publishing an annual sustainability report to improve transparency and track progress against emissions targets.

  • Investigating and reducing digital emissions from cloud storage, video conferencing, and other virtual tools.
