As the UK accelerates its green and energy transition, the sector is facing unprecedented complexity, from talent shortages and shifting workforce structures to the increasing influence of AI on technical roles and organisational design. These pressures are reshaping what effective leadership looks like, and demanding new approaches grounded in behavioural science and long-term capability building.

In November 2025, FabricShift hosted a closed roundtable, Leadership in the Green Transition, bringing together senior leaders from Forum for the Future, JLL, Ashden, Verco and Base Power Ltd. The session examined how organisations can attract, develop and retain the skills needed for the net-zero transition, and how leadership behaviours can be embedded to create stability, focus and systemic change.
